Facilities
CUT is strategically located at Pier 400 in the Port of Los Angeles' newest and most modern facility. Situated at the confluence of the 710, 110 and 47 freeway, the CUT facility has convenient proximity to all major distribution centers in Southern California.
The 91-acre facility is equipped with the latest advanced cargo-handling technology, and the high-efficiency equipment required to off- and on-load ships with speed and precision.
- Vessels berthing are located on the Westside of Pier 400 with drafts alongside the 55 foot wharf.
- Two Super Post-Panamax cranes (with two additional Super Post-Panamax cranes scheduled for operation in early 2012).
The largest ship-to-shore cranes in the world; these cranes accommodate the largest and newest generation of container ships. Among the fastest cranes in the world, with the capacity to lift 65 metric tons (145,600 lbs) at one time, CUT's cranes have the capability to load or discharge over 30 containers per hour.
- Gantry cranes are complemented by a well-maintained fleet of transtainers, sideloaders and tophandlers.
- Expansive storage space for stacked containers and containers on chassis.
- Electrical capabilities for over 500 refrigerated containers at a time.
- On-dock rail services for both import and export.
Advance Operations and Information System
- CUT's Advanced Computer System controls all terminal functions and provides up-to-the-minute data on the status of vessels and cargo availability.
- CUT's 10 inbound and 6 outbound lanes are equipped with the most modern processing equipment in the Port.
